Funeral monuments: Why? and where to start?

Funerary monuments are used to mark the location of a burial place in a cemetery. Almost always in the form of a tombstone, with or without a stele, they help to perpetuate the memory of the deceased and to welcome relatives in their meditation.

The funerary monument may overhang a coffin in the ground and a vault: this is a masonry (often concrete) pit beneath the surface of the surroundings, also made by the marble mason.

Funerary monuments concern the burial (or burial) of the deceased. In the case of cremation, it is more commonly known as a cinerary monument. Finally, funerary marble includes the stele’s engravings, the tombstone, or the funerary plaques placed on the monument.

After the funeral, many families decide to have a tombstone placed to mark the deceased’s burial and pay tribute to them. This element can be personalized by adding engravings, ornaments, a funeral plaque, or a photo. The latter can be placed on the stele or directly on the tombstone to honour the loved one and allow relatives to memorize his or her smile, his or her charm.
